The double basket pattern is worked on straight knitting needles and created with knit and purl stitches. The pattern is reversible making it a good choice for scarves and shawls.
Cast on a multiple of 18 stitches plus 10 additional stitches.
Row 1- right side: * Knit 11, purl 2, knit 2, purl 2, knit 1; repeat from * to last 10 sts, knit 10.
Row 2: Purl 1, knit 8, purl 1, * purl 1, (knit 2, purl 2) twice, knit 8, purl 1; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: * Knit 1, purl 8, (knit 2, purl 2) twice, knit 1; repeat  from *  to last 10 sts, knit 1, purl 8, knit 1.
Row 4: Purl 10, * purl 1, knit 2, purl 2, knit 2, purl 11; repeat from * to end.
Rows 5 to 8: Repeat rows 1 to 4.
Row 9: Knit.
Row 10: (Purl 2, knit 2) twice, purl 2, * purl 10, (knit 2, purl 2) twice; repeat from *  to end.
Row 11: * (Knit 2, purl 2) twice, knit 2, purl 8; repeat  from *  to last 10 sts, (knit 2, purl 2) twice, knit 2.
Row 12: (Purl 2, knit 2) twice, purl 2, * knit 8, (purl 2, knit 2) twice, purl 2, repeat from * to end.
Row 13: * (Knit 2, purl 2) twice, knit 10; repeat from * to last 10 sts, (knit 2, purl 2) twice, knit 2.
Rows 14 to 17: Repeat rows 10 to 13.
Row 18: Purl
Repeat Rows 1 - 18.
